Am I allowed to choose favorites? Mongolia held some of the most amazing skiing, adventure, and sense of completion for me. I had scouted the 5 holy peaks from the highest mountain in Siberia, Mt Belukha, 4 years earlier. They never left my mind. We had no maps, no photos – just an incredible group of friends and a dreamy vision in my mind from the past. We had no beta, we were not even sure we would find any skiable snow on these icy formidable mountains. Not only did we find snow, we skied all five peaks, were stalked by the snow leopard, ran out of all food and fuel, ate a marmot, road the Trans-Siberian railway and chased camels. The stories and beautiful photos could fill a book. |
